My MA Thesis Project----"Remathau (People of the Sea): Ancestral Seafaring Knowledge for Resilience

My MA Thesis Title is "Remathau (People of the Sea): Exploring Ancestral Seafaring Knowledge for Post-Disaster Community Resilience.
This thesis is a community-based research project focusing on the Remathau community in Yap State of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) and the diasporic community in Hawai'i. It is qualitative research using semi-structured oral interview questions to collect oral history from community elders and cultural experts regarding their experiences and knowledge as a seafaring community. The goal is to learn how they coped with and recovered from natural disasters in the past and examine and analyze how that can support contemporary climate adaptation efforts in Yap and in the region.
